Latest status on the IMAAM Center Project

THE USE PERMIT PROCESS
The following is the process that IMAAM follows in order to obtain the use permit.

  1. Applicant (IMAAM) prepares a proposal and site plan design to be submitted
  2. Applicant requests a pre-application meeting with City of Rockville and presents the proposal
  3. City of Rockville reviews the proposal and suggested modification if necessary, according to the requirements
  4. Applicants prepare the necessary design changes, with City of Rockville guidance and consultation
  5. Applicant and City of Rockville meets again to discuss the requested changes
  6. If approves, applicants submit the Use Permit application
  7. Provided all the necessary documents are approved, City of Rockville issues a Use Permit
  8. Having a Use Permit allows the applicant to do renovation to the site and building according to the plan

STAGE 1 UPDATE

  • February 2009, the moratorium has been lifted and applicants can start submitting the paperwork in March 2009
  • March 2009, started alternative design for consolidation option with AMT guidance
  • March 2009, decision to go with Consolidation of the properties
  • Beginning May 2009, Okinawa House is vacant
  • December 2010, meeting with ISD
  • February 2010, Pre-Application Meeting request submitted
  • March 18, 2010, Pre-Application Meeting
